After Vice President-Elect Mike Pence was greeted with boos at a New York theater, and the cast of Hamilton delivered a message to him after the play, President-Elect Donald Trump took to Twitter Saturday morning to rebuke the cast and those who jeered Pence, calling the cast rude, and asking for an apology.
“The Theater must always be a safe and special place,” Trump said, saying that Pence had been “harassed last night.”
Our wonderful future V.P. Mike Pence was harassed last night at the theater by the cast of Hamilton, cameras blazing. This should not happen!
When Pence arrived at the theater for a performance of the blockbuster play Hamilton, he was booed by some of those in attendance, and then the cast delivered him a message afterwards, urging the Trump Administration to be more open and inclusive.
The actor who played Aaron Burr led the charge, as the cast proudly repeated their call on social media as well.
“We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” said Brandon Dixon, who plays Burr.
“We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and work on behalf of all of us,” he added.
Another theatergoer w/ Pence at "Hamilton" tells me there was "massive, extended applause at 'Immigrants, we get the job done'" line
