With one tweet, Hillary Clinton made it official on Sunday, that she is running for the White House.

“Everyday Americans need a champion. I want to be that champion,” Clinton said, her Twitter account now sporting a new logo.

Instead of gathering a big crowd for an announcement, Clinton opted for social media and with a video on the internet, knowing full well that her tweet would gather a lot of attention – even if it came during the front nine of the Masters.

Clinton didn’t appear in her own video until some others told their stories.

Clinton was expected to campaign later this week in Iowa; she was easily defeated in the Hawkeye State back in 2008 by Barack Obama.

Republicans were immediately ready to attack, as the national GOP rolled out their own “Stop Hillary” effort, and some of those who might take on Clinton were ready as well.

“Americans need a president they can trust and voters do not trust Hillary Clinton,” said GOP national chairman Reince Priebus.

“We must do better than Hillary,” Jeb Bush tweeted seconds after her tweet hit the internet.

Democrats meanwhile rallied to her side.

“I’m ready for Hillary. And America is ready for Hillary,” said Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD). “She is going to break that glass ceiling once and for all.”
